Winter 2011: There are plans in changing the domainname of JoliesWorld into: JirosWorld or 'jolarti' - because Jiro rarely uses the stagename 'Joli(e)' anymore. Jiro still makes the daily cartoonseries 'ontboezemingen'/off my chest' and has had an essay published in the february edition of Raffia Magazine, read more here (in Dutch). Jiro will also have a short piece in the march edition of Lover Magazine - and will be part of a debate on the abolishment of sex registration in legislative systems - in Dutch: Geef je op voor het debat over zin&onzin van sekse registratie "man/vrouw: verplicht veld?" Summer 2010: Joli(e) has had top surgery and is now slowly recovering in the meanwhile he has started drawing a new cartoon series, cleverly named "off my chest" (which will be exchibited in the COC Leiden on september 18/19 2010 during the "Kunst en atelierroute Leiden" Joli(e)s webcomics can be followed through Twitter and their daily website: http://ontboezemingen.wordpress.com. Dutch: 'Ontboezemingen' is een cartoonserie die vanaf 22 juli 2010 dagelijks op het web verschijnt en gemaakt wordt door Joli(e), onder de naam Jiro. De serie gaat over de borsten van Jiro die na hun operatie (de mastectomie) ontsnapt zijn en commentaar geven op actualiteiten maar ook op genderstereotypen en heteronormativiteit. Events - winter 2009: - Joli(e)s extensive 5 years of weblogging will be deleted. Reason: the artistic quality wasn't always up par and Joli(e)s opinion is slightly more nuanced these days. Also stalkers reading 5-year old opinions may get the wrong idea, and there's no need for that, right? For the same reason this site will undergo dramatic reconstruction. - NL: Sinds Juli 2008 is eindelijk de documentaire over Joli(e)/Jiro klaar: ..."Leven tussen grenzen" - een docufilm van Tomas Parinussa & Maja Mirkovic. Een korte documentaire in opdracht van de UVA. 'Er zijn meer dan twee soorten mensen' Een portret van twee jonge mensen (Joli(e) en Fergus) die de grenzen van sekse en gender overschrijden. Zij proberen hun genderidentiteit te uiten en strijden voor een nieuw lichaam dat hierbij past. Dit verloopt niet altijd even makkelijk in een maatschappij, waarin slechts ruimte lijkt te zijn voor de categorieen 'man' en 'vrouw' en de hierbij voorgeschreven genderrollen..." Past event: On may 31st 2008 and on august 2nd 2008 Joli(e) was MC'ing all night at the Hot Peper. Events until spring 2008: - On january 11th 2008 Joli(e) got "green light" from the Amsterdam Genderteam, meaning testosteron will enter the artists' life and she/he is officially diagnosed as transsexual, even though the artist doesn't fully fit that description. For now the name Joli(e) will still be used, but there's a possibility this will change into the more masculine Joli or Jiro (Japanese for "second son"). - April 19th: RozeLinks, the sexual diversity platform of GroenLinks, invited Joli(e) to talk on social issues for transgender people in order to see how politics can improve life for the differently gendered. - May 12th: Joli(e) joined the fun Fluffmarket together with Hannah Biemold. Joli(e) presented a number of animated toys, showing characters from the Grmbl animations. On january 19th 2007 Joli(e) was DJ'ing at the Hot Peper, Overtoom 301 Amsterdam. A unique queer night. And Joli(e) performed the Martin Brosius part in the Noodles game "Gender je rot" at the Dutch Transgender Filmfestival 2007, Amsterdam. Another Dutch event: "Het eerste Transfusion Festival heeft op zondag 11 november plaatsgevonden, zie www.transfusionfestival.nl, Jolli(e) was er de hele dag aanwezig bij hets' eigen tafeltje: "Joli(e)'s Transformatie Standje" "Altijd al meerdere penissen willen hebben? Een cyborg willen zijn? Of het perfecte modellenlichaam willen bezitten? Dat is vandaag in een handomdraai gepiept bij het Transformatie Standje van beeldend kunstenaar Joli(e) die jou photoshopt in alles wat of wie je maar wilt zijn. In 2007 'Helpline!' will be shown at the Mix NYC festival. This screening in Sign Language will be fully accessible to a Deaf audience. The screening will be called "FOR EYES" and will be on Thurs. November15th at 6:00 pm. (the festival will take place at the Sun Factory, 394 Broadway, November 14-18). In 2006 werd 'Helpline!' vertoond in Japan in verband met een queer filmfestival. Een ook 'Search Suspension' is toegelaten tot het Kansai Queer film festival (KQFF) dat in Osaka plaatsvindt. 'Helpline!' gaat ook nog, in z'n eentje dus, worden vertoond op het Kyoto Queer Rainbow Festival (KQRF)! Joli(e) was aanwezig bij de vertoningen in Tokyo en Osaka van dit jaar. Tegelijkertijd is er een (eindelijk) Amerikaanse premiere van de film via "...the 'Flaming Film Fest' in Minneapolis, USA, happening this May. The program will also be made available to festivals and events in other cities such as Seattle, Olympia, San Fransisco, etc..." iemand die ik niet ken heeft mijn film op de Engelse Wikipedia gezet. Ik ben het niet eens met de beschrijving en mijn gender-aanduiding dus die ga ik veranderen. Ik wordt nog met 'her' aangeduid ook: "Helpline is a 2004 queer short film from the Netherlands written and directed by Joli(e) Ghianni. It is a short animation work-in-progress that was produced for Queeruption 2004. The film explores the idea of bare-chested-ness. Should everyone in a Western society be able to walk around bare-chested, or just the boys? Is this fair? The director used her "pre-testosterone" voice in narrating the voice-over that accompanies the animation." 'Helpline!' is een transgender film die handelt over de schaamte omtrent porno. Joli(e) exposeert tijdens het leukste schaduwfestival van Nederland (in de schaduw van het International Rotterdams Filmfestival): R Eject. Dit vond plaats in het voormalige Ter Meulen warenhuis (een bekend begrip voor weemoedige Rotterdammers). Je kunt bij dit laagdrempelige gebeuren een maaltijd bestellen en al etende naar de experimentele filmpjes kijken, er is zelfs een transgender film programma dat op 3 februari wordt vervolgd met de prachtige documentaire "La Persona De Leo N". Er is een bar, de toegang inclusief een 3-gangen menu kost 7,50, als je alleen film wilt zien kost dat 2,50. Behalve een sculptuur doen er ook 3 van mijn filmpjes mee in het programma maar ik weet zelf niet wanneer - dat is namenlijk afhankelijk van de sfeer in het publiek en hoe de 'Cinema Jockey' die inschat (!). As from October 10 on Joli (e) will try to travel from Hamburg through Denmark towards Sweden concerning the showing of Joli(e)s animation 'Helpline!' but it's uncertain if sHe will succeed... People in the Netherlands can subscribe their cell-phones to a text-message service with live-updates from Joli(e)s travelling dramas abroad. On October 13th Helpline will be shown in Hamburg, Germany, on the LSF festival during the Pretty Young Things programme - afterwards the film travels further to the short film festival in Uppsala, Sweden, which takes place 24-30 October. Vanaf 10 oktober probeert Joli(e) vanaf Hamburg via Denemarken richting Zweden te reizen i.v.m. de filmvertoninkjes van Joli(e)s animatie 'Helpline!' aldaar. Maar of dat ook zal lukken... Blijf live op de hoogte van deze kunstzinnige poging tot rondtrekken en abonneer je op Joli(e)s SMS-dienst! Stuur met je mobieltje een smsje met de tekst GO ACTIE AAN naar nummer 4411 en je ontvangt de sms'jes met berichten van Joli(e) rechtstreeks uit het koude Noorden! Meld je nu aan! En geniet mee van labskaus en smõrgäsbord. Op 13 oktober wordt Helpline! vertoond in Hamburg, Duitsland, op het LSF festival tijdens het Pretty Young Things onderdeel. Joli(e) was present at Queeruption Barcelona and had a successfull "Art & Activism" workshop there. Coming back from this event forced the artist to articulate a new point of view on GLBT rights.	June 24, 2005
Joli(e) presented only one workshop at the relatively chaotic Queer Weekend but was much more energetic at the next NTGF because its film was selected to be part of the programme! Joli(e) was also asked to participate in the discussion on the rise of genderqueer experessions during the same festival in De Balie. Joli(e)s animatiefilm 'Helpline!' is geselecteerd voor vertoning op het Nederlands TransGender FilmFestival in De Balie te Amsterdam. De film werd als onderdeel vertoond binnen het T-Shorts #3 programma op vrijdag 20 mei, rond 10 uur 's avonds. De trotse maker was aanwezig voor vragen. Tevens nam Joli(e) deel als panellid aan de discussie over de opkomst van genderqueer uitingen op zaterdag 21 mei, ook in De Balie.	February 16, 2005
Joli(e) was asked to talk on art at the radical ACU centre in Utrecht. There was interaction with the audience on gender and activism in art. Joli(e) showed the HelpLine! animation and the Paradiso LoveDance AIDS VJ visual, the GameTracks project and the Bisexual ButtonBody BeatBox from the ADD Cdrom project. The other visual fine artist had to cancel due to the flue. The entrance was free ofcourse. Feministisch Kafee 15 februari 2005: Feminisme in de kunst Feministische kunstenaars komen vanavond hun kunst laten zien en vertellen over het feministische of politieke aspekt er van. Wat drijft hen om politieke kunst te maken? Wat is feministische kunst? Wat willen ze precies uitdragen? En lukt dat eigenlijk ook? Is kunst een goeie vorm van aktivisme? Joli(e) went to visit the alternative Beyond the ESF forum in London and is also attending the official Dutch Social Forum where Joli(e) will be in the pink block in sundays' demonstration. Joli(e) went to Berlin in order to look for queer and transgender community and found it + is considering stopping animation production and moving on to spoken word performances. NEWSFLASH: Joli(e) finished and showed its new film for the 2nd national AIDS benefit which will be held on World AIDS day december 1st in Paradiso. The title of Joli(e)s piece is "Are you safe when you FEEL safe?" and is abstract looping animation without sound. Showing confronting queer and funny safer sex texts flowing by as a moving wallpaper in the downstairs Paradiso 'grote zaal' as a background to the Nachtwachts' speech and one minute of silence. Joli(e) did a spontaneous street-intervention in San Francisco. Near the 111 Minna Gallery sHe put the now world famous stylized feetstickers in the street on thursday september 30th. Jaywalkers everywhere felt justified and happy while using the new paths. From time to time Joli(e) had to hide from passing police cars but there was never a problem and the gallery was an excellent host. After 3 days most of the stickers were gone, but some can still be seen today...	October 24, 2004

Het CBK geeft Joli(e) subsidie voor een opdracht - Joli(e)s eerste publieke conceptuele kunst project in de openbare ruimte, 4 september 2004, de Nieuwe Binnenweg, Rotterdam. Joli(e) zoekt er nieuwsgierige vrijwilligers voor, dus geef je asjeblieft nu op!!! Als je je opgeeft als vrijwilliger, mag je een Joli(e) uniform dragen EN krijg je als eerste te horen waar het project over gaat!!! Joli(e) gaat stickers op het wegdek plakken en laat 10 unieke A0-posters ophangen in o.a. de volgende panden: VolumeMarkt Supermarkt, Coffeeshop Sky High, Fabricati, Turkish Airlines, Audiogallery, Wester Apotheek, Atelier Theo, Postkantoor Binnenkort meer... Extra nieuws: binnenkort heeft Joli(e) een nieuwe expositite: op het Fruits Of Forbidden Society Festival in de Stadshal van Den Helder, 13-20 aug. Joli(e) toont er twee interactieve electronische werken en een aantal autonome animaties. It's still a bit of a secret but the CBK Rotterdam is offering Joli(e) an art grant in order to execute hir first conceptual urban art project, in September at the Nieuwe Binnenweg. From 1-7 june Joli(e) showed new animation films at Queeruption 2004 - these animations were afterwards shown at the anti-commercial counter-event of Europride Hamburg 2004 and they will be contributed to the feminist archive of www.bildwechsel.org. One of these works had previously been archived in PlanetOuts 2000 PopCornQ base + "operate/squat" @ Pakhuis Afrika Amsterdam and the experimental NYC MIX fest could be possible venues. Let's keep our fingers crossed...! Joli(e) has decided not to submit to Novembers' prestiguous HAFF (Dutch Animation Festival). NewsFlash: unfortunately the Teek festival Breda has rejected Joli(e)s interactive Computer Sculpture - this sculpture had been shown in Hoek van Holland last month, but the TEEK festival was already full and transport could not be arranged. "Perhaps next year the sculpture can be shown there" the organisation stated. In het kader van Queeruption 2004 toonde Joli(e) van 1-7 juni nieuw animatiewerk dat ook tijdens het experimentele New York MIX fest en bij "operate/squat" in Pakhuis Afrika Amsterdam mogelijk opwachting zal maken. We bijten alvast op onze nagels...! Deze animaties werden achteraf getoond op het alternatieve Europride festival 2004 te Hamburg. Zij zullen in ieder geval worden toegevoegd aan het feministisch filmarchief van Bildwechsel. Eén van hen was al eerder opgenomen in het PlanetOut PopCornQ 2000 archief. Joli(e) heeft besloten niet mee te doen aan het prestigeuze HAFF in november. NewsFlash: het Teek festival te Breda heeft de interactieve computer sculptuur 'De Heilloze Hobby Hengelaar' moeten afwijzen i.v.m. transport problemen en een overvloed aan aanmeldingen. Van 20 tot en met 30 mei 2004 vond voor de derde keer de Week van de Zee plaats. Een week barstenvol activiteiten die u onze bijzondere kust en zee op een speciale manier lieten beleven. Met activiteiten langs de hele kust, maar ook in het binnenland. Het thema van 2004 was 'schatten uit zee'. De officiele opening was woensdag 19 mei om 8 uur 's avonds in de Torpedoloods. Dit jaar toont Joli(e) t/m 4 juni in de hoofdzaal van de Torpedoloods een interactieve consumptie-kritische computerinstallatie en drie schetswerken (laatstgenoemden te koop). Twee schetsen zijn autonome bewerkingen van de voorbereidingsfases voor de installatie. De installatie zelf is uiteraard ook te koop maar is in principe alleen bestemd voor openbaar toegankelijke podia i.v.m. de experimentele boodschap. Op deze pagina kunt u fragmenten bekijken. Zowel van de schetsen als van de installatie. The National Sea Week took place from May 20-30 this year. Joli(e) was participating with an interactive computerinstallation and three sketch works (the latter for sale!). The sketches are enhanced sketch-drawings, in preperation of the installation. Gradually Joli(e) is flirting more and more with the Dutch squatters' scene. Which means sHe was participating with new animations in the lovely benefit show for Queeruption 2004. Additionally Joli(e) has set up an Easy Activism blog (For now it's Dutch only). Geleidelijk aan begint Joli(e) steeds vaker te flirten met de nederlandse krakers scene. In het kader daarvan toont zhij nieuw animatiewerk op het exquise benefiet 'gala' voor Queeruption 2004. Daarbij heeft Joli(e) een Easy Activism blog gestart, waarbij bezoekers gemakkelijk mee kunnen doen aan kunst- en politiek activisme. Do artists have a high IQ? Joli(e) didn't think so, but she was invited to take part on this television show anyway: On Wednesday, January 14, Dutch public television network BNN will broadcast the National IQ Test 2004, produced (and format) by Eyeworks for the fourth year on a row viewers can test their intelligence. The celebrities that take part in the test this year include Co Stomp��, Gijs Scholten van Aschat, Henkjan Smits, Catherine Keyl & Chris Zegers. In the studio, five different prejudice groups compete against each other (artists, chess players, drunk students and big breasted women). A link to he full interview with Joli(e) from the Rotterdam Daily 2003 has been published in the BiNieuws Magazine. Joli(e) has written several stories and columns as well as film reviews, but it's all over now. Joli(e) has also resigned as a national board member for the Dutch Bisexual Network on january 10th. because of discontent. Joli(e) thus hopes to gain time for working out better financial prospects. Joli(e) heeft verscheidene columns en film besprekingen geproduceerd voor het Landelijk Netwerk Biseksualiteit, maar dat is nu allemaal voorbij. Today the LifeSwap Site has been updated and finally (due to popular demand) a general guestbook has been added to Joli(e)sWorld. The latter is definately not one of Joli(e)s most proudly presented pieces... But the [Jolarti]-list members kept on asking for an overall guestbook spot instead of the scattered comment links, such as the ones on Joli(e)s Weblog and the ESF pages. There was a new JolieWorld message sent to the [Jolarti] mailinglist (this list is in Dutch only and gives its members news-updates on Joli(e)s shows as well as funny art competitions). The message announced Joli(e) will make an entirely new 'docu-animation for the Queeruption benifit show on January the 24th', the film will be titled 'Helpline!' Additionally Joli(e) speaks about some aggressive email responses from the spokesperson of the Dutch Animal Rights activists from Groenfront! as a result from hir action 'Protect your Pet' which she thought to be rather cute. Groenfront! seems to think Joli(e) should also act whenever someone eats an egg or whenever there is a glass of milk being drunk anywhere in the world...	January 2, 2004

From november 12-16th Joli(e) was a participant and discussioner at the European Social Forum (the ESF 2003). After the World Social Forum (WSF) in Porto Alegre, which revealed the strength of the world��s leftwinged citizen movement and after the success of the first European Social Forum (ESF) in Florence, France will host the second ESF in Paris this year. A textual and photographic account is in progress and will hopefully be finished at around december. The process is delayed due to the artist catching a cold at the demonstration which drew a crowd of over 100,000 people. Van 12-16 november nam Joli(e) deel aan het Europees Sociaal Forum waarvan het tekstuele en fotografische verslag hopelijk in december af zal zijn; 't proces heeft vertraging op gelopen i.v.m. kouvatten van de kunstenaar tijdens de massale demonstratie. Joli(e) participated with the 'Day for Dialogue', a Rotterdam multicultural initiative. Dag van de Dialoog Rotterdam. Op deze dag gaan Rotterdammers van verschillende leeftijden en culturen met elkaar in gesprek op vele plaatsen in de stad. Dat gebeurt op uitnodiging van verschillende organisaties, instellingen en bedrijven, die een tafel hebben gedekt en een multiculturele maaltijd serveren. De deelnemers praten met elkaar over persoonlijke onderwerpen. De tafelgesprekken beginnen om 15.00 uur en duren tot 18.00 uur. Daarna is er vanaf 19.00 uur een slotbijeenkomst in het WTC. Het thema voor dit jaar: RESPECT VOOR ELKAARS WAARDEN.	November 2, 2003

But sHe still was able to finish te video (the right arm was usable) for the Extrapool festival... which was shown for exactly two minutes and 4 seconds (124 seconds) due to the brave actions of the two [Jolarti]-list supporters who voted for Joli(e). Joli(e) is participating in a 'Zap' VideoFestival, where the audience decides how long each film may play: "...De BONTEVIDEO AVOND is Extrapool's film/video gebeurtenis waarvoor kunstenaars een video of film kunnen insturen. Extrapool hanteert geen kwaliteitseisen: het publiek kiest en zapt om zo samen in de rol van programmeur te stappen. Onder leiding van gastheer Aldwin Lehr, en middels een ingenieus keuzestickersysteem, bepaalt het publiek wat er getoond wordt en hoelang het duren mag. Extrapool heft hiermee de scheidingswanden tussen publiek, kunstenaar, programmeur en projecteur op. De BONTEVIDEO AVOND zal plaatsvinden op 21 augustus op de Extrapool boot op het Armada-festival..."	August 14, 2003
